I started my scientific training almost four decades ago working as a research assistant for the Smithsonian Museum on weekends, then later in the field spending my summers in the jungles of Central and South America. My love for the outdoors also lead to my job with the National Outdoor Leadership School where I worked as a mountaineering instructor for seven years. I received my Bachelors of Science from Unity College in Maine.
I have been a wilderness EMT since 1986 and went to Paramedic school in 1988. I have maintained my State and National Paramedic license for the subsequent three decades. In the interim 30 years, I have worked in wildland and structural firefighting and Emergency Medical Services, on helicopters, and been a member of several Urban Search and Rescue and wilderness rescue teams, through which I was able to assist on many deployments to small operations and large-scale disasters alike.
I worked for the City of Santa Fe Fire Department for 21 years as a structural firefighter, Paramedic, technical rescue operator, and retired as a Training Captain in 2013. In addition to the above-listed disciplines, I taught and have maintained licensure in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
I’ve been lucky to have a career through which I am trained to ensure safety is the primary consideration in all that we do. Chris’ Tree Service has had zero injuries and zero accidents to-date, making us one of the safest tree services in the country. See what we do differently to make us proud of being one of the safest in the nation.
